About Us
As you may know, the City of Golden created a Citizen’s Sustainability Advisory Board in 2007. Since its creation, much has been accomplished, but much more remains to be done. The founders of Sustainable Golden recognize that we must act if the City is to achieve its crucial sustainability goals.
Sustainable Golden aims to harness the energy and expertise of its citizens to hasten our progress in three specific ways:
Research & Analysis - The City has limited capacity (a single staff member and a volunteer board comprised of seven private citizens, most of whom have other full-time jobs) to do the serious analysis associated with designing effective policy solutions.
Education & Outreach - While the vast majority of Golden’s residents and businesses would like to do the right thing to make their homes more energy and water efficient, and to reduce the stream of waste that goes to the landfill, they often lack the information that would enable them to do so.
Advocacy - We’ve heard repeatedly from members of the City Council that, while they are supportive, that they can move farther and faster if citizens speak loudly, articulately, and with a common voice to urge more determined actions in support of our common goals.
We’re a Team with Big Plans!
Interested in joining us? We’re looking for passionate volunteers to serve on our Board of Trustees and committees. Help bring our ideas to life and be part of something meaningful. Let’s build the future—together.
Sustainable Golden was founded in 2025.
